Hot Kiddush: Summer Party

A summer party celebrating the vibrant Jewish & Caribbean culture in NYC.

Shtick NYC, The Neighborhood: An Urban Center for Jewish Life, and DJ Max Glazer are hosting a summer party on Saturday, July 8 celebrating the vibrant Jewish & Caribbean culture found here in NYC. Open to the public with RSVP, the event will be a backyard cookout with music by DJs Max Glazer & Eddie STATS, food by Chef Picky of Ariapita, and more. HOT KIDDUSH will be hosted in the sprawling garden of a historic, landmarked townhouse in Bed-Stuy. Location will be provided upon RSVP.

This event is free. Food and beverage will be available for purchase on site.

Shtick NYC hosts pop-ups and parties in unexpected places celebrating the quintessential Jewish foods and customs found in New York City. Our mission is to share Jewish culture with a larger audience, and to collaborate with other communities in order to cross-promote and create bridging among New York’s beautiful, diverse communities.

The Neighborhood: An Urban Center for Jewish Life is building a new model of Jewish cultural and community center in Brooklyn. While we search for a physical home, we are focused on collaborative, cross-community pop up programming that uplifts the many diverse and vibrant Jewish voices in Brooklyn. Through art and culture events such as musical performances, theater works, and food tours, The Neighborhood welcomes Brooklynites of varied perspectives to explore and connect. Max Glazer has represented New York City touring the world DJ’ing parties for superstars like Naomi Campbell, Puff Daddy, Missy Elliott, 50 Cent, Branford Marsalis, and Jay Z, to name just a few. Separate from the glamorous celebrity parties he was known for, Max was always cultivating his interest and love for reggae, dancehall and Caribbean music. In 1999, with partner Kenny Meez, he co-founded Federation Sound which has been focused on bringing Caribbean music to an even broader audience for over 15 years. Founded in 1999 Federation Sound has been dedicated to pushing the envelope and finding new and creative ways to share their love of the music.

Osei Blackett aka Chef Picky was born and raised in the Caribbean isles of Trinidad and Tobago, and later migrated to the US at the age of 20 to hone his culinary talents and pursue his passion for cuisine. Now, with almost 20 years’ experience in the Food industry, Osei is one of the most sought-after West Indian Chefs in New York City. He has cooked in kitchens across the US including for the Mayor of NYC at his home and a dinner at the United Nations at the NYC office. Osei is the Owner of Picky Eaters Restaurant, Ariapita Restaurant, and Chef Picky Events & Catering. He also hosts a quarterly food event ” The Picky Experience” where he prepares Caribbean inspired food with a modern twist.
