Social Impact Shabbat for Mid-Late Career Proffessionals

May 24 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm

By Effective Altruism for Jews a global community of Jews coming together to help tackle the world’s most pressing problems effectively. (Applications are now open for our Jewish Impact Accelerator Program!)

Join us to celebrate Shabbat, connect with new people, and explore topics relevant to effective altruism — a social movement dedicated to figuring out how we can do the most good with our limited resources — and Jewish tradition! All are welcome regardless of your familiarity with effective altruism or your relationship with Judaism. The dinner will particularly focus on opportunities for mid-late career professionals to increase the social impact they achieve through their careers.

At the dinner, we hope to engage in discussion about connections and tensions between effective altruism and Jewish tradition, exploring questions such as:

  1. What do Jewish texts and tradition have to say about our obligations to the global poor, animals, and future generations?
  2. Is there a uniquely “Jewish” approach to doing good?
  3. How should we balance concern for Jewish priorities vs. global priorities?
  4. What practical strategies can we pursue to do more good in our careers?

The food provided will be vegan and certified kosher.

Please feel free to bring friends and share with others!
