This month’s volunteer night coincides with Tu B’Av on the Jewish calendar, a day on which the daughters of Jerusalem would dance in the fields in white dresses borrowed from one another. This custom represented the dignity of every individual, our shared responsibility to care for one another, and the celebration of a more perfect world, a world beyond hierarchical structures, a world of equality, and Chesed. Wear white to celebrate with us!
With several hands-on tasks, volunteers will have the opportunity to support Met Council’s missions in supporting low-income seniors, families, and college students in the Greater New York City area. We’ll share updates on how Met Council is responding to rising food insecurity, supporting Holocaust survivors, assisting families in crisis, and serving more than 155,000 New Yorkers each month through our pantry network.
