Yom//Kippur 5784 With UWS//Jews
September 24, 2023 @ 6:30 pm - 11:30 pm
Sun Sep 24, 2023 6:30 PM – Mon Sep 25, 2023 9:00 PM EDT
Welcome to Yom Kippur 5784/2023 with uws//jews!
Yom Kippur with uws//jews is geared towards young UWS residents (post college – age 35 + uws//jews alumni) seeking a meaningful and spiritually engaging Yom Kippur experience. We seek to create a space to reflect on ourselves and our community, and we’ve gathered some great local talent to lead us with that goal in mind. Our minyan will take place this year in a new, beautiful, larger space in the west 90s and will be an Orthodox service (with divrei torah given by both men and women), slow shira following Kol Nidrei, and a light break-fast afterwards!
Important Registration Information:
Early bird tickets for Yom Kippur services this year are $60 and are available through Labor Day. Please note that registration fills up quickly every year, so if you plan to join us (and we hope you will), we encourage you to reserve your spot as soon as possible, and before ticket prices go up after Labor Day.
We recognize that people have a variety of financial situations. With that in mind, we offer an opportunity for those who can to make an additional contribution to support uws//jews programming throughout the year and subsidized tickets for those who view the cost as a barrier to participation (no questions asked). When you purchase tickets, there will be a ticket type that corresponds to each of these options (pay to cover your seat, additional contribution, and subsidized ticketing).
Please make sure to select a ticket type that corresponds to the section where you will be seated (Women’s Section or Men’s Section).
Elul Tzedaka Initiative:
At the bottom of the form, we are providing an opportunity to participate in our Elul Tzedaka Initiative, all proceeds going to DOROT, an amazing organization based on the Upper West Side, whose mission is to support the health and well-being of older adults in the New York area in the Jewish community and beyond. In addition to giving, we encourage you to get involved in one of the many volunteer opportunities DOROT offers in this area.
Other Ways You Can Get Involved:
A core value of uws//jews is working together to build the community we want to see! Because this minyan (and all of our programming) is entirely volunteer-led, we invite you to share whatever ways you can contribute to making this year’s Yom Kippur experience special! If you have any questions or thoughts about uws//jews more broadly, or would like to get involved with – or start – a new community initiative, please email email@example.com. We’re excited to hear from you!
