What is NYC Jewish Social?
NYC Jewish Social is a community group for secular young Jewish professionals in New York City. We host social events — singles mixers, happy hours, Shabbat dinners, holiday celebrations, and more — for Jewish New Yorkers in their 20s, 30s, and 40s.
Who can join?
Anyone who identifies as Jewish and is based in or near New York City. We’re non-religious and non-denominational — you don’t need to be observant, affiliated with a synagogue, or have a specific background to be part of the community. All Jewish backgrounds are welcome, including Ashkenazi, Sephardic, Mizrahi, converts, and patrilineal Jews.
Are the events religious or observant?
No. NYC Jewish Social is a secular community group. Our events are social in nature and do not have a religious component. You don’t need any knowledge of Jewish traditions or practice to attend and enjoy our events.
How much do events cost?
Most events are free or low-cost (typically $5–$20). We keep pricing accessible on purpose. Specific pricing is listed on each event’s RSVP page.
How do I find out about upcoming events?
Three ways: (1) Browse our events page at jewishsocial.nyc/events/, (2) Follow us on Instagram @jewishsocial.nyc, or (3) Join our WhatsApp community group — this is where we post announcements first.
How do I join the WhatsApp group?
Contact us via our website or DM us on Instagram @jewishsocial.nyc and we’ll add you. The WhatsApp group has 360+ members and is the most active part of our community.
What types of events do you run?
We host a range of events including singles mixers, after-work happy hours, Shabbat dinners, holiday parties (Purim, Rosh Hashanah, Hanukkah, Passover), rooftop events, and FSU (Russian-speaking Jewish community) happy hours.
Do I need to RSVP?
Yes — RSVP is required for all events. We cap group sizes intentionally to keep the quality of the event high and ensure a good atmosphere. Spots go fast for popular events, so RSVP as soon as you see something you’re interested in.
I’m new to NYC. Can I still join?
Absolutely — we’d love to have you. NYC Jewish Social is actually a great way to build a social network when you’re new to the city. Many of our members found their NYC friend group through our events.
How do I host or co-host an event?
If you’re interested in co-hosting or partnering on an event, reach out via the contact form on our website or DM us on Instagram. We’re always open to collaborating with other Jewish community organizers in the city.
