Sukkot Events in NYC

Sukkah dinners, sukkah hops, rooftop parties and BBQs across the city. Every Sukkot event we know about for Jewish 20s and 30s, in one place.

Every Sukkot event in NYC, in one place

Almost all of these are run by other organizations around the city — synagogues, Chabads, JCCs and independent organizers. We gather them in one place so you are not checking fifteen Instagram accounts to work out where to go. Sukkot begins at sundown on Friday, September 25 and runs through Friday, October 2, with Shemini Atzeret and Simchat Torah on October 3 and 4. Most events land in the first few nights and over the middle weekend.

What Sukkot events in NYC look like

A sukkah is a temporary hut with an open roof, built for the holiday, and eating a meal inside one is the whole point. In practice that turns into four kinds of night out.

Sukkah dinners

A long table inside a sukkah, usually 20 to 60 people, often catered and frequently with wine. Some are free, most run $25 to $40. First-night dinners fill up earliest.

Sukkah hops

A crawl, but between sukkahs. You move as a group across a neighborhood, stopping for a drink and a bite at each one. Good if you are coming alone, because you know the group by the second stop.

Parties and rooftops

Bigger, later and louder. A few hundred people, a DJ, a bar, and a sukkah on the roof or the terrace. The easiest events to arrive at solo, and the most likely to sell out in advance.

Daytime and outdoors

BBQs, picnics and afternoon gatherings over the intermediate days, while the weather still holds. Lower key, and a good fit if the late nights are not your thing.
